How you do love is how you do money? How are marriage and owning a business similar? The results of how we treat our spouses and customers could very well be causing a disconnect and distance either in your relationship with your spouse and your customers. This is an interesting read on how the two are similar.

Marriage & Money ...What do they have in common?

Marriage & Money (business) What do they have in common?

How are marriage & owning a business the same?

I’ve noticed that some women are very good at pointing out how their significant other could have done things better, point out their faults and punish them for perhaps not meeting your needs or supporting you when you think they should. All of this only leads to disconnects and distance in our relationships. Yelling and nagging is just disrespectful and honestly, not very effective. Expecting our spouses to do and think exactly as you do, does not and will never work.

However, once you find that happy place in understanding what special things each person brings to the table, what their true gifts are and realize that we all have our quirks and faults and actually embrace these, this is when the magic and loving comfort is brought into the relationship. Where peace and endless , loving support occurs.

So my tip here is to quit waiting for your spouse to earn your respect. Begin acting respectful in a loving way towards him or her and eventually they will do the same back.

Though you may not agree on everything, you both will respect and support each other and stand up for each other at times that it is needed. What also begins to happen, is that you allow the other person to grow when they need to, at their own pace.

Marriage is an ebb and flow during life. Sometimes it’s exciting, sometimes it’s mellow, sometimes it’s challenging but as long as you always remember the reason why you fell in love with this person in the first place, are respectful and supportive, you will be at peace during the high and the low times.

So what does this have to do with our money, our business?

Well, when you begin to treat your customers with respect and allow them to grow at their own pace, give them room to actually step up to their own success, but hold them true to their own empowerment by giving a respectful, gentle push to keep them moving forward, they will achieve what they need to within their business.

We can not expect our customers to “get” everything we teach. We also can’t expect to be able to relate to everyone. AND, we definitely can not do the work for our customers, we can only guide them to their own true greatness.

This is why it’s so important to create your idea of who your perfect customer is so that you can relate to them, their problems, their goodness, their quirks, their gifts and embrace all of it, the whole package – just like you do in a marriage. Because having a thriving, growing business is all about working together and creating relationships.

Everyone learns differently and at their own pace, so this is the other reason I suggest teaching the same subject in many different formats, ie written, audio, video, action workbooks, etc. Another tip is to bring in other experts that really compliment your business because many times you may say something to your customer but they won’t get it, but once they hear it from some one else, or in a different format – such as audio vs written, finally they will.

Just like in our marriages, our customers sometimes need us to be the strong one and hold the other up, encouraging them each and every step of the way and really help them to step into their own true empowerment.

Once you begin to step into your own empowerment is when you begin to blossom.

You may have to challenge yourself to really stay strong and true in your own business as a coach until your client can get to the high level you are teaching. You must remember, that they have to do the work themselves and each person is accountable for their own success. You can only guide them and give them valuable information and the steps to create their own transformation.

You can assist in “helping” them stay accountable in a loving, firm way versus pushy, demanding and being cynical. Done by keeping their best interest in mind will help them get to exactly where they need to be.

As an example of this is, when you are doing a 6 month to 1 year long coaching program your clients have paid a lot of money for you to teach them whatever you have promised, but they (and you) have to remember that they still need to do the work to get there.

In the beginning they are full of energy and excited (just like dating). Around month 4-5 their eyes are opened to any challenges and reality that their dream brings. This is where the work begins. Many even want to quit at this point, yes, even after they have made the big investment to get the coaching they want.

Where they may have dropped the ball, is holding true to the commitment they made in the first place.

Another thing that can happen is this:

Clients will join your more extensive, high-end programs because they want to shift the responsibility of success or no success to the coach vs themselves. Which is just silly. The coach provides you the tools, guidance and support. You must do the work. Again, it’s similar to all relationships, you can’t blame someone else for your happiness. If you are not happy inside, you are not going to be happy on the outside no matter what.

It is up to you as their coach, to help them get over any challenges and this 4-5 month hump, and remind them why holding true to their commitment was important in the first place.

Help your customer remember their bigger “why” and work through their challenges and fears until they feel invigorated and excited and empowered to do what it is they were meant to do in this life. This time period is a huge turning point for many. Understanding your why and the reasons you wanted your own business in the first place will also help you through any challenges. Yes, just like remembering why you married your spouse in the first place.

See, pretty much how you do love is how you do money (and everything for that matter!) I learned this from my mentor Kendall Summerhawk and didn’t quite understand it until a couple of years later, crazy how that works!

You are doing your customer a disservice if you do not hold them responsible to their commitment. Done in a loving, caring and respectful way will have them thanking you in the long run for helping them get through the challenges and bumps in the road. Supporting and guiding them each step of the way will have them meeting and achieving the success they have always dreamed of.

Apply these same strategies to your marriage and you will love your spouse no matter what, you will get through the challenging times much easier, their quirks will become cute, your love and connection together will become stronger and you will meet your life long goals together, as a team.

I just read an article where they said that a poll was taken and 80% of the people that participated did NOT enjoy or like their jobs.

So my burning question is WHY don’t people do what they love and what they are naturally gifted to do in life?

There are so many answers to this questions depending on who you are. Whether it’s your beliefs from childhood, not taking the time to really dig deep into what you are passionate about, or feeling like you don’t have the money, time or resources to do what you are passionate about.

80% of you are not doing what you love. This a very large number and it saddens me.

This is probably why I am so anxious to assist you in taking your passions, your true gifts in life and find a way that is authentic to you to make money. I help those that want to start a business online, however you can go through this same process to help you find a job that is in alignment with your natural abilities as well.

Part of understanding what you enjoy and what you are passionate about is getting out of your own mind and any negative patterns.

Have you ever been around someone who is happy even during the most dire moments?

It’s not that these people don’t get mad or sad or upset, it’s just that they don’t allow the drama to shut them down and totally take over their thoughts.

I know you know the person who lives in drama all of the time and maybe their life isn’t quite how they want it to be so they are always living in the negative. Maybe they want to do something, maybe they want their own business, the freedoms to do what they love but for one reason or another the necessities in life and paying just to live have come first, therefore they live in their story of I can’t, I shouldn’t and the HOW can I do that

So step out of your story for a moment, whatever your story may be.

Begin to incorporate some of the things that passionate, happy, successful people incorporate into their lives.

1.) Begin embracing today for today.

Look around you and embrace anything and everything that you are grateful for today.

2.) Don’t get stuck in the past:

Many times we get stuck in our story of the past whether it was positive or some negative things that have happened. What I mean by this is the positive could be something like “Oh well I used to have a lot of money, a big house, etc, etc.” and the negative could be staying stuck by something that happened to you and it still has a negative impact on you today. Either way, you need to learn from the good and bad, embrace it for what it is and understand that it has helped you become the person you are today, so embrace this. Just remember, staying stuck in past will not serve you today or ever.

3.) Begin to plan for the future:

Do small things every single day that are moving you closer to your future goals, but do not live in the future meaning you must go back to #1 by embracing today for what it is and living fully in the present.

4.) To move forward and away from “Your Story” learn to forgive.

The 20% of people that were doing what they love said they were happy because they felt like everyday they enjoyed their life so much because they appreciated life and didn’t take it for granted which in turn made them feel joy and happiness.

They also said they surrounded themselves with a support system that encouraged them to follow their dreams. If 80% of the world is not doing what they love, do you think they are going to support you to do something different than most? No. So you need to seek out others that will really, truly support you in pursuing your dream – no matter what.

It’s also been proven that people who follow their passions, their dreams have a more meaningful life and enjoy better health, as well as more balance over all.

So the excuse I hear over and over again for not following your purpose, your true calling is “I can not afford it”. My question to you is, “Can you afford not to?”

You may not be able to up and quit your job, but you can add positive steps into your life right now to move you towards a more meaningful, passionate, fulfilled life and business.

So my challenge to you is to step out of your story for a moment. And answer these questions with no judgements, just be free and open in your answers. You may just be surprised at yourself and where you go with this.

Signature Learn & Apply Action Steps:

Write down all of the things that come naturally to you, that you enjoy doing, or that others compliment you on.

Would any of these make for a viable business? (hint – all gifts & talents can become a business in some way, as long as others are willing to pay for it)

Write down what you think you would love to do?

Would you want to work for yourself or someone else?

What hours would you work?

In what ways would you work that would allow you more freedoms in your life? Example: I offer more self-study and group programs so that I have more free time in my daily life to my daily life and spend time with my family.

How much would you honestly need to make to make a go of this? This doesn’t mean this is ALL you would make.

How much would you need to make to really change your life for now and the future?

If you can’t just up and quit your job, is there a way you can begin to integrate your new found passions and gifts into your life in a small way to get started?

What ways would your life be different, what would change if you had a business that you were passionate about, full of purpose and meaning, was actually profitable and allowed the time and freedoms to enjoy life?

Look at some of these answers, I bet you may be surprised at some of your answers.

All of the programs that I teach are based around the fact that you must have passion and a purpose to make the profits that you wish. This coupled with the concept that you should only offer services which work hand in hand with your lifestyle becomes the main part of our Authentic Signature Niche program.

Many people go into business to make money, which is great, but most that I work with go into business to make a difference. Unless you have the driving force, that higher purpose to make a difference, the money won’t stick around for long. And, if you don’t have money flowing into your business you won’t be able to help the number of people you were meant to assist. Thirdly, you need the passion to keep you going during the times that things may be a bit challenging.

Passion + Purpose = Profits

If you take your branding and base it on authenticity and use the driving force behind your brand as your passion and higher purpose, you will attract and connect with your perfect client.

With this attraction brings loyalty and wealth beyond measure.

See, working your business in this transparent way, tells your clients that they are important to you and that you do want to make a difference and that you are here to help transform lives because you care.

Experiencing true passion within your business shows. To keep this passion alive you must know your driving force behind why you do what you do. This coupled with a simple action plan, executed clearly and consistently will not only attract the right customer, but money as well.

Now, let’s take this a step further. If you have passion, a purpose and you are making great profits BUT you are working all the time, you may not be living a very fulfilled life.

So let’s add one more thing into the equation . . . Offering services based on the life you desire to live.

See, if you love to travel and that is a dream of yours to pick up and go anytime you like, it may be a little difficult to have a retail store. So perhaps you may want to have an online store. Maybe you are a coach of some type but you have children, so you can only work part-time and the house is noisy. Instead of doing a bunch of one-on-one sessions, you may want to offer a self-study program and meet in a group atmosphere once a month.

You want to make sure that the services you offer as a consultant enables you to live the life you ultimately desire. So picking the right programs and services and offering them in a way that suits your ultimate life-style is so important.

The Simply Wealthy formula for a meaningful, profitable business is truly as simple as this:

Passion + Purpose =Profits

Take this a step further. . . Add ONLY programs and services into your business that dovetail how you want to live your ultimate lifestyle and that=

A meaningful business and fulfilled and passionate life as well!

Signature Learn & Apply Action Step:

Write down what you are passionate about. Even if you have a business, are you doing what you are passionate about?

What is the drive behind this passion? What is your ultimate purpose?

Are you reaching out to enough people to communicate your purpose? If not, why?

What is the ultimate problem you are assisting them with? Are you clear enough on what the problem is you solve and what benefits your client will get once the problem is gone?

How would you ultimately like to live your life?

Do you like to travel?

Do you like to speak?

Do you enjoy meeting people in groups – in person, or over the phone?

Are the services you will be offering your customers in alignment with your lifestyle? If not, adjust the services you now offer in a way that would be.

Nothing is more important than living for today. Living your life to the fullest, doing what you love, what you were meant to do, full of purpose and meaning. Sounds pretty good, doesn’t it?

You truly do create your own life and add meaning to anything and everything you do, big or small. Being happy and fulfilled isn’t based on the stuff you have, or where you live, it’s being okay with who and what you are and what meaning you want to bring to this life.

However, I also understand that most people don’t believe they can live the life they desire. Sometimes we make it a little difficult to live the life we want. Why? because most of us stand in our own way because of our present beliefs based on what we have experienced in the past.

If you really dug deep to figure out how you wanted to live your life and what it is within your business that you desired beyond the money, beyond the expectations of others, I think you would find that your vision, your dreams for yourself would not be that extravagant or far out of reach. None-the-less, extravagant or not, achieving this based on where you are right now, today, can SEEM pretty far fetched.

Not until you get clear about yourself, take down all of the shields, put away all of the limiting beliefs you may have learned from your parents or life events, can you progress forward quickly to doing what you love. You can move forward, it will just seem slower and more difficult. If we don’t learn from life’s lessons, these limiting beliefs, they will keep popping back up until you have. Making your journey to success slower.

Here are some steps that you can take to move toward having a more meaningful life and business:

Step #1 is to get crystal clear on what it is that you actually want for yourself to live your life fully.

Write this down. Get super specific on what this looks like to you. Even if this seems unrealistic from where you are in your life’s journey right now. Even if you are a bit of skeptic on whether you think you can achieve this lifestyle right now. Don’t think about the “HOW”, just write down what you’d like your life and business to ultimately look like.

#2: Expect others to “try” to make you feel guilty for wanting something different.

When it comes to exploring what you want in life, especially when it’s out of the “norm”, loved ones have a tendency to try to protect us (usually based on their own limiting beliefs) and try to put a damper on you moving forward to living your passionate purpose.

Just expect this.

You don’t need to defend yourself, just hold true to your vision for yourself. Remember, the stronger, the clearer the vision the easier it will be to hold true to your path when challenges arise. Expect challenges, they will come and when you expect them it will be easier for you to overcome them. And though they mean well, loved ones can be your biggest challenge in holding you back, due to their own limiting beliefs.

#3: Understand that just envisioning your dream and wanting to live a particular way is not enough.

You need to take action and have an action plan. You need to be consistent with this. Stopping and starting and desiring instant gratification can be the biggest detriment to achieving your dreams. I’m not saying that you won’t achieve your dreams quickly, it’s just that it can take a little time and effort, and most want instant gratification.

As you grow and start experiencing your dreams and goals, somehow each goal you achieve just gets easier and easier, therefore quicker for you to accomplish. Why? Because your limiting beliefs, past hurts and regrets begin to vanish as your self esteem increases. By the way, just a little tip . . . This holds true for anything in your life, love, health, business, etc.

You can’t keep doing the “right” thing and not have something good from it. For some, dependent upon what you need to learn along the way, will determine how quickly you achieve where you want to be. Life’s challenges WILL keep coming back again and again until you learn from them. Once you do, everything becomes easier and begins to flow.

#4: Embrace today for today and begin to live your purposeful life right now.

Too many of us have a tendency to not embrace where you are today because it’s NOT exactly where you want to be. If you begin right now to fully embrace today and the process of living your fulfilled, purposeful life I guarantee you will feel more fulfilled, right now. I also guarantee that it will help you achieve your vision quicker. (Hang tight for those of you who aren’t sure how to start doing this!)

So BE happy now. Start adding smaller versions of your bigger vision into your life today, don’t wait. How? It’s not that difficult, but you may need to be a little creative . . .

Maybe you want to live a simpler life but not a boring one, one full of meaning, perhaps you want to move to a different state, perhaps you want to travel more, perhaps you feel stuck within your job and just desire to do something that you are more passionate about.

For many, maybe you just want freedom and stability and want to know that you don’t have to be fearful of your future.

But perhaps you feel you can’t make any change, get ahead or do what you truly want to because of family commitments, lack of money or you know you want to move forward but just don’t know how to go about achieving it. Or, you are just plain scared, so you make excuses to stay right where you are – you are stuck.

I’m saying you CAN live your happy life today, the life you dream of right now. HOW?

Many of us, if we dig deep, we really don’t need the millions, we just desire enough to feel secure and to have the freedoms to do the things in life that make it enjoyable to us. It’s hard to put a price on that. You create the amount you need and this amount may surprise you.

So, I know it may seem silly, but the thought is to actually start feeling and believing you can and deserve all that you want. FEEL what it is like to experience your dreams. The Universe wants you to be abundant and happy. We, yes, WE are the ones that keep that from happening. We have a habit to get in our own way.

Begin to add some of the things you see yourself doing in your future life right now, experience your bigger goals now, but in a smaller way until you meet that bigger goal.

Begin cutting out pictures of the lifestyle you’d like to have. If you want to move, look at houses and the area where you’d ultimately like to live. If you want a successful business in a certain field hang out with others that want the same thing. Perhaps you want more meaning in your business and want to give back but you are not making enough to feel you can do this. It doesn’t have to be money you give to others, give your time. Mentor a young entrepreneur and help them bloom and believe in themselves.

If there are certain “toys” or “objects of desire” that you would like, that is okay!!! Do it in a small way today. Can’t afford a boat, take a fishing pole and go fishing. Want to travel more, but can’t afford airline tickets, hop in the car for a weekend get-away or even a one day get-away – take a picnic and make it special. Offer to intern under your mentor so you can see hands-on what successful people do. Surround yourself with people and books and events that will help you not only get to your vision but experience what it feels like today.

Magic happens when you can take a dream and add, even in some small way, what it would FEEL like to experience that dream. If you can feel it, you can receive it.

#5 You are doing the world and yourself a disservice by not living your life fully.

Uncovering your passion, living your life’s dream and finding your purpose helps the world, not just you. When you do something that is meaningful to you and living in a way that is congruent to who you are, it gives others the permission to do the same.

What would life look like if everyone did what they sincerely enjoyed doing and lived in a way that was bigger than just “themselves”?

I encourage and challenge you to live bigger, even if it’s a little scary. And living bigger doesn’t mean more stuff, it means living a life that is utilizing your skills to make this world a better place even in the smallest of ways, it means actually feeling happy no matter where you live or what you do, it’s being okay with who you are, it’s looking around and actually figuring out that you are part of an incredible masterpiece called life’s journey that is unfolding in front of you

This doesn’t mean not moving forward in life, it just means enjoy where you are right now and plan for tomorrow to be an even better version of yourself.

Don’t worry if from time to time you go back into your memory bank and say “What if”, or “I Should have”, “If only” . . .If something not so kind happened in the past, or that you feel guilty or shameful about something… It’s okay, this is natural, just don’t dwell on this. Embrace it and let yourself experience it and then leave it where it should stay, in the past.

See everything you have done in your life that has brought you to this point and will lead you to the next step and is part of the process of living exactly the way you want to. It may be hard to see that now but again I must repeat this, hold true to your vision.

I once had a mentor who said that everything that happened 5 years ago, determines where you are in life and in your business today. I also have another mentor that says that 90% of what most people do during the day does not help their business grow or improve their life and they might as well just take a nap. I’ll let you chomp on that one for awhile. Both of these statements made me sit and think quietly for awhile.

I’ll continue these thoughts in my next article. For today, my action step for you right now is to write down your vision for yourself, the way you want to live your life and how you want your business to run. Whether you want to have a business that is more meaningful and in alignment with your purpose, your true gifts in life or you just want to change where or how you work or live, this exercise will help.

Signature Learn & Apply Action Step:

Write it down. Take 3-6 sentences to summarize what it is that you want, how it would feel if you lived this way – be specific. Then cut out photos that go with this vision. It doesn’t have to be a big vision board, just a few photos, a few words to remind you this IS important and it IS within your reach to have. Place this on your refrigerator, next to your computer or on your night stand so that you see it everyday.

This quote was so beautiful and empowering that I had to share. I hope it empowers you today and everyday.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of the Universe.

Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” ~ Marianne Williamson

One of the biggest complaints that I hear from women I coach, is their lack of energy. After age 40 something begins to happen to our bodies, those changes combined with the stresses we put upon ourselves zaps our energy. And, before that age I’m just not sure we think to slow down enough to give ourselves the break our bodies need to re-energize.

I know that I used to run myself until I couldn’t go any longer. I also know that I used to drink a diet coke for lunch and call it good. Maybe I’d have a salad with my dinner and a side vegie, but as far as green nutrients go that was all I was getting.

So being that this blog is about helping woman entrepreneurs be the best they can be and enjoying life to its fullest, I want to share something that will help you from the inside out.

Feeling vibrant, energetic and passionate not just about your business, but LIFE in general, is so important and I think what we put into our bodies is an important piece of the puzzle.

One way that my husband and I keep our energy levels high is by what we put into our bodies. I’m not going to pretend to be a health nut, because I am not. I DO try hard to put the right things in my body, but I am not adverse to enjoying a couple really good glasses of wine, and every once in a while- a cheeseburger from Five Guys and YES, chocolate cake calls my name from time to time.

You will hear me talking about juicing for health and energy, but I am not always consistent with it, though I feel very good when I do. So I must confess I fall from time to time and forget to get all of my vegies in. But I don’t worry about it much and the reason being is that I am very consistent with a couple of superfoods that I take every day.

The one thing that keeps me feeling good and energetic and healthy and that I am truly consistent with in my daily diet is Amazing Grass Green SuperFood, 60-Servings, 17-Ounce Tub. I haven’t been sick for nearly a 1 1/2 years since I began taking it. This was even through the stresses of moving and changing climates. I tried to get sick once a few weeks ago, a cold I think, but my body fought it off so it was more of an irritation than actually being sick. And, Eric my hubby hasn’t been sick at all.

Amazing Grass, Superfood truly is amazing! It doesn’t taste bad either, which for many is important. It just has a slight grassy flavor. I take it in the morning and another shot in water or with coconut milk and a banana for an extra special treat in the afternoon.

Having vital energy is an asset to your business and a must to your success, especially when you are marketing or life coach or consultant of any type. Others depend upon your energy to help them with their lives. Try it, you will be very happy you did! Amazing Grass Green SuperFood, 60-Servings, 17-Ounce Tub

I do have another superfood that I take every day, but it’s not for everyone, so I will talk about that a little later because this is good for energy too but balances out your hormones naturally, this is called Navitas Naturals Maca Powder, 16-Ounce Pouches I take a 1/2 tsp in the morning and 1/2 teaspoon at 3pm. Don’t take it past that time or you may find yourself awake all night. Personally I started taking this for fertility reasons, but it made such a difference in my monthly menstruation that I believe this to be a miracle food. 25 years of suffering from bad periods and after 3 months of taking this I no longer d0. As always, check with your doctor if this is something you should be taking. Maca is a food, not a herb or a drug, but it is powerful and you want to work your way up to the 1 tsp a day.

What It Means

To Be More Successful.

~ Spencer Johnson, The Present

Action Step:

Write down just 1 goal that you would like to accomplish that would really make a difference in your life.

Write down all the reasons WHY it would make a difference in your life.

Take that goal and chunk it down by writing down all the steps that it would take to achieve this bigger goal.

Schedule the first step into your calendar.

When you complete the first step, replace it with the next, and the next, and so forth until you have your larger goal completed.

Write down your goal and your reason WHY you want to accomplish this goal on a 3×5 card, on your daily schedule, refrigerator, mirror, bed table or wherever you will view it every single day until it’s accomplished.

You will be concentrating ONLY on the steps it takes to meet your goal, but not the big goal as whole. Some how this takes the pressure from you that big goals can cause. I guarantee by putting this into practice you will be reaching all of your goals effortlessly.

It’s vitally important to become conscious of what is working and what is not working day in and day out. If you are consciously making good choices and taking actions that create value in your life and your business, positive results will come. When you commit yourself to your passions and dreams and make the decision to obtain your goals and create success, you will.

You must take action consistently and make sure this action has good value backing up each and every step you take. Make your actions count.

Entrepreneurs have a tendency to jump from one project to another because they aren’t seeing the results they desire quickly enough.

Some may say they want to carry out certain goals, but when you look at the actions that are being taken they are not aligned with what they really want to accomplish. Make sure what you communicate is aligned with your actions.

Action Step:

Take a moment to reflect upon what is working in your life and business and expand on this area.

Also, take note of what is not working.

Write down anything that is zapping your energy or taking up too much of your time with little to no results.

Next to each item that you’ve written, on a scale of 1-5 (5 being the most value) give your actions a value rating.

If there is no value behind these actions, try to drop them from your daily schedule. If they are necessary but are draining you, hire them out to your virtual assistant.

By only focusing on actions that have value, you not only will see more positive progress, but you will see quicker results and you will have more energy as well.
