Summary of 20 Important Steps to a Successful Niche Site

We are all doing ourselves and the world a disservice by not sharing our gifts. We all have a purpose, some times we figure this out by chance, sometimes we know from early on what “it” is that we want to do, but life some how takes  some  on a much different journey - feeling perhaps that it’s too late to do something different, try something new, to follow our dream.

Maybe you aren’t ready to fulfill your life’s purpose, your mission in life, but you want to have a business that just feels good, has some meaning and you want to make a difference. You are ready to ditch the 9-5 grind.

Maybe you just want to have fun and enjoy the freedoms that working on your own can give you. Set up incorrectly and a business can also be the opposite of freedom and fulfillment.

Setting your business up on-line doesn’t have to be hard, but it’s not always easy either. Without guidance and a step-by-step plan, trying to figure out how to put it all together on your own  can be downright frustrating and leave you re-thinking this whole “following your purpose” pursuit.

There are specific steps, a common thread, between success stories and creating a business that has meaning and purpose. Plus, it’s important to make money as well because this is what is going to  allow you the freedom to live the life you desire.

Here is a summary of the steps you will want to take for a successful coaching or consulting business, or any business for that matter that you want to share your knowledge in.

They all go to together like a puzzle, miss a piece and you won’t  experience the full picture:

1. Understand your talents & skill set and what “it” is that you want to develop a new interest in, or what comes naturally to you.
2. Choose a topic to teach that others are interested in and have money (or can get money) to purchase your service or product.
3. What is the lifestyle you want to live? Set your business up the way you ultimately want to live. You don’t want work 12 hours a day if your
   goal is to spend more time with your children.
4. Be clear on your vision and hold true to this vision.
5. Know your WHY, what drives you and keeps you going during challenging times.
6. Be concise on who it is that you want to help.
7. You need to solve a problem or set of problems for this specific group of people.
8. Give your clients transformational value.
9. When connecting with your customers, be consistent.

11. Figure out what behavior, mindset issues may be holding you back from achieving your goals. Many times this can be done through your mentor or coach. They can see things easily that you may not.
12. Understand and know that challenges will arise, at this point review your Vision and your Why.
13. Create a brand and website that speaks to your perfect customer and is authentic to you.
14. Your website should be search engine optimized, you can do this easily by setting your website up on the popular blog site wordpress.org.
15. There are many free “Themes” on WordPress but we prefer Profit Theme  1.) Because it’s easy to use 2.) They have a launch friendly website that works great for product & service launches  3.) With templates available you can have your site set up quickly and easily.
16. Host your own website. We like Host Gator, the Baby Croc plan should be sufficient.
17. Stay connected with your customers through an auto-responder like Aweber or Mailchimp and through  social media such as Facebook, twitter and google+. Even though linked-in is more for corporate professionals, I’ve found it easy to connect with others and contribute to forums.
18. Use a social media tool like hootsuite.com so you don’t waste precious time getting sucked into the social media black hole.
