Jody, one of my Simply Empowered Visionary/ Accelerator clients, and I got into a fun discussion about traditional tarot. So we played with a very intuitive, easy way how to connect with and read the traditional tarot.
Whether this is learning to read for you or another, this will give you the confidence to learn, what can seem like a daunting task, into a very fun, intuitive metaphysical tool!
So, I thought I'd share some basics here, and then I'll go into deeper study and link it to the Zen Lounge within the Simply Empowered Inner Circle portal. Jody & I might do a fun demo for you too!!! Meaning of each Suit & the Major Arcana:
- The Suit of Wands: This suit represents the element of Fire. Think about the mirroring of consciousness —what's important to you. The energy of intuition, strength. Think "what makes me tick?" It also represents Spring or weeks. Seeking greater purpose, solution, or meaning in your life. What motivates you? Also, movement, action.
- The Suit of Swords: This suit represents the element of Air. Think change, force, power, or conflict. The energy of a double-edged sword. The symbolism here can be rational thought-logic, domineering, and rigid. Traditionally, it represents Autumn or the months.
- The Suit of Pentacles: This suit represents the element of Earth. Think material possessions, property, money, career/work/business. Much about manifesting in the material world. This can go either way: generous, tangible, manifesting into the physical, or it can read as possessive, greedy, and materialistic. Traditionally represents Winter or years.
- The Suit of Cups: This suit represents the element of Water. Think emotions, feelings, love, and expression. Cups signify that you are "thinking with your heart." This also connects with the watery signs and subconscious; think Cancer, Pisces, Scorpio. Cups can also mean the inability to show emotions, being overly emotional, or conflict involving emotions. Traditionally, this represents Summer.
- The Major Arcana: Also called the trump cards. Think of these as the foundation of the entire deck. These cards represent different stages we encounter as we spiritually evolve. There are 22 Major Arcana cards. These can also represent Carl Jung's archetypes. When you have a lot of "Trump" cards show up in a reading, pay attention because this usually means that you, or your client, have some major life events coming up!
Simple Empowered Way to Intuitively Read Traditional Tarot
- Instead of trying to figure out all of the meanings and ins and outs of these tarot cards from others that will tell you the right and wrong way, I want to share with you a much more flowing, fun way to do this!
- Connect. Drop into your heart by taking 3 deep breaths through your nose, and imagine your breath coming from your heart. Tuning into your intuition.
- Think of a situation or question that you'd like more guidance on.
- Pull 3 cards. You can do past, present & future if you like, but you already know what happened in the past, so I'm not sure that helps anyone. And, you already know what is happening in the present. So, for ease, I'd just concentrate on asking for the highest & best guidance.
- Gaze into each card. Meditate and allow the imagery to engage your psychic senses. Do your best to stay neutral and not project your thoughts onto the cards. Allow the cards to share their story with you.
- Really take your time with each. Looking at the colors, the pictures, the people, and the intricate symbolism of each. Write down anything that comes to you. Words. Thoughts. Stories. Symbols. What you see and what that represents to you.
- The more you do this, the more you will begin to connect with the symbolism of each, which holds deep meaning.
- As you look at what you wrote, begin to bring the story, or the message, together based on what you saw in the cards. Every time you do this, you'll see something new.
This is a perfect start!
